We, the residents and the taxpayers of Charlotte County Florida, demand that the Charlotte County School Board, Kim Amontree, Wendy Atkinson, Cara Reynolds, Robert Segur & Ian Vincent and the Charlotte County Superintendent, Stephen Dionisio, unmask all children of Charlotte County for the 2021-2022 school year.  

The Florida Commissioner of Education, Richard Corcoran has issued guidelines to make masks optional in Florida schools. We demand the school board and the superintendent adopt that recommendation.  Governor Ron DeSantis has stated multiple times that children in our Florida schools should be unmasked.

There is overwhelming evidence that masks are causing social and emotional issues for our children.  There is also a preponderance of evidence that children are not vectors for COVID.  As such, it should be the right of parents and guardians to decide if they will continue to mask their child(ren).  Education is about children and we must allow our children to benefit from that education.
