Charlotte County Needs Fishing Piers!

The Issue

Hurricanes Helene and Milton have destroyed most of Charlotte County’s fishing piers, leaving shore-based anglers with few places to cast a line. Rebuilding or repairing them is a quality of life issue for many residents and should be a priority for the county.

We realize that the piers can’t be replaced overnight, but we request that the county use whatever tools it has at its disposal to expedite the process, including requesting state or federal funds and using county emergency funds to pay for at least the design phase, which is necessary before permits can be obtained.

In light of the newly approved Florida Constitutional right to fish, providing Charlotte County residents and visitors with safe access to the water has never been more important. Thank you for your consideration.
