Ever since I was little, traffic going on and off Cape Cod in the summer has been awful. Despite efforts to build a new bridge I don’t see that happening any time soon. I feel like we should make the change of the century, Boston and cities all over the country have tunnels running underground, under bays and 100 story buildings, and with minimum requirements and repairs. Tunnels are more environmentally friendly, using less heavy metals then bridges.

My thoughts are to build a tunnel starting at the Christmas tree shop in Sagamore Massachusetts and having it go down and under the canal, coming up at the Sagamore Mcdonlold’s. The tunnel will only be open to Cape Cod year round residents, with all that talk of “Martha’s Vineyard tunnel pass” coming true. You’d need to purchase a permit each January and it lasts a year, they will cost $150-200 per vehicle. A discount will be offered to military, and families with multiple cars.

Yea, the construction of the tunnel will slow boat traffic for the period of time it takes to construct and build but if it’s made deep enough under the canal it should have no interference with boats and wild life.
