You pershore town council are putting £300,000 into this project.. paying back £30,000 a year back.

Will last 25yrs with monthly maintenance. . And despite being told we will still have public aceess.. the health and safety section of planning application states no unauthorised persons to go near the project site.

It will cause problems to the river, the natural habitat of the fish, a much loved environment that many people enjoy throughout the year as a walking spot, as a place of natural beauty, and it will be an eye sore & there will be a generation of noise mounting up.

It is generating electricity for the leisure centre of Pershore, when it is known that along with the above points, the fact it will affect a prime fishing spot, and a vital spawning habitat in the weir pool... it is also known that river provided energy isn't confirmed as a reliable source of power, due to the river being in flood or too low throughout most of the year, the actual station will be out of action compared to the figures predicted to be saved.

Knowing that many organisations and properties along Bridge St, who back on to the River Avon have objections to the whole project and it's many effects it will have on nature DESPITE what the EA have said in their assessments, it's obviously been given a little more money to have it accepted by EA to keep them sweet!

Angling Trust Technical Director Alan Butterworth said: “I have commented on more than 70 schemes on behalf of the Angling Trust over the past year and this is one of the worst I have seen. There is a complete lack of analysis of the turbine’s impact on the water environment by the developer and the Environment Agency’s own internal fisheries experts have been ignored. It should not have been permitted.”
