The Issue

Imagine being accused of something you didn’t do, and then having to prove your innocence. This has been my reality as people have called Child Protective Services (CPS) with false allegations against me. The emotional and financial toll this has taken on my life and my family is immense. I know I am not alone in this battle, which is why I believe it is vital to take action.

Each year, thousands of individuals face unnecessary investigations initiated by baseless reports to CPS. According to a report by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, out of the over 3.5 million reported cases in a year, more than 75% are deemed unfounded or without sufficient evidence. This not only wastes valuable resources but also damages the lives of innocent people.

Filing false reports should not come without serious consequences. By charging individuals who file false CPS reports with a felony automatically, we can deter such destructive behavior and ensure that CPS resources are dedicated solely to cases that genuinely require intervention.

Implementing this change demands rigorous legal support and collaboration with local law enforcement and CPS authorities. Training can be provided to identify malicious and intentionally false reports swiftly and accurately. By creating a solid legal framework, we ensure that those who abuse the system face appropriate penalties.

Please sign this petition to protect innocent families and ensure CPS resources are used efficiently to safeguard children truly in need. Let us bring justice to those falsely accused and restore focus to genuine cases of child endangerment.
