A Nevada breeder allegedly kept six dead cats in a freezer while other animals in the same home suffered serious, breeding-related illnesses and physical abnormalities, according to local news reports. Authorities removed 21 Sphynx cats from the property, and five of the rescued kittens reportedly went on to suffer seizures tied to their declining health, with some dying within a day of being taken into custody.

One rescued female cat had reportedly been bred so heavily that an untreated infection cost her an eye. The cats who survived now face contagious illnesses that can last a lifetime, according to reports. Complaints also allege that other cats this breeder previously sold became sick and died shortly after leaving the home — meaning families who thought they were welcoming a healthy new pet may have unknowingly brought home a dying one.

If these allegations hold up, this isn't just neglect — it's a business built on breeding cats for profit while ignoring the suffering that came with it. Animals are not products, and cruelty on this scale shouldn't end with a few animals quietly relocated and no accountability for what allegedly happened to them.

Henderson Animal Protection Services needs to fully investigate this case, and the Clark County District Attorney's Office needs to pursue every animal cruelty charge the evidence supports. These cats can't speak for themselves, and the animals still in this breeder's position — or others like it — deserve to know that this kind of alleged cruelty carries real consequences.
