Chantè Died: We Demand Supported Living Accommodations Be Monitored By The CQC!
The Issue
My name is Emma Dalmayne, I am the CEO of an autistic led organisation based in Woolwich SE London called Autistic Inclusive Meets.
A young autistic woman, only 24 years of age named Chanté, died at her supported living facility on the 12th August 2025, her parents believe she wasn’t provided with adequate support.
Chanté had been visiting with her parents and had enjoyed a Sunday dinner with them and her brother.
Karl, her dad, then took her back to her bungalow on the supported living site.
The site has 24 hour support staff.
Chanté had a meltdown on arrival and staff asked him to leave.
Karl and her mum Emma called and preemptively alerted staff that they would need to check in, and keep a close eye on Chanté in case she went into crisis.
That was on the Sunday evening.
By Tuesday morning, Emma noticed Chanté hadn’t been online for 18 hours so she called the onsite office at 7.30am to see if Chanté was alright.
They hadn't checked on her at all!
Emma panicked and jumped in her car, and arrived at the living facility to see a sight that is every parents worse fear.
Paramedics were leaving Chanté's bungalow, holding their hands up to her questions and asking that she accompany them to the staff office.... Emma said no, she wanted to know what was happening immediately and and asked fearfully, "Shes not ok is she?", she couldn't bring herself to walk to the office with them until she had heard the heartbreaking truth.
Chanté was not ok, she never would be again.
We are demanding stricter guidelines be implemented to staff that work in supported living accommodations, that staff are sacked and prosecuted if neglect is proven.
We are demanding stricter regulations on support staff training.
We are demanding that residents be checked in with daily, hourly if they are in potential crisis be it by phone, text or a visit to ensure they are alright ,and do not need assistance.
The mode of communication would be up to the resident.
We are demanding that adult social care be held accountable.
Please sign this petition, share it.
This could happen to a loved one, to a relative, to a friend.
These failures are happening all over the country, we will not allow Chanté to be forgotten.
She has lost her chance to lead a full happy healthy life, the chance to enjoy the things she loved, to thrive.
She could have had all of that, she could have lived. Adequate support is basic and is so desperately needed!
Her family are devastated.

Emma has this to say:
"This is a pain no mother should endure, made worse by the knowledge I put faith in people I thought would look after my daughter.
I would like to see the CQC monitor and inspect supported accommodations,as they do care homes, because I have lost faith in the local authority completely.
I raised safeguarding concerns with the local authority, and in my opinion they didn’t do enough to make sure the provider was providing adequate support for Chanté.
For this reason I would like to see an outside agency cover the monitoring and inspection side of the support.
I would also like to see tougher consequences for those who fail in their duty of care when awarded support contracts.
Chanté was an enigma! She was utterly unique and you never knew what was going to come out of her mouth.
Chanté was bright, witty, articulate, funny, artistic and beautifully sensitive, sometimes far too sensitive and she would at times absorb others pain.
She couldn’t bare to see someone she loved upset or in pain.
Chanté was autistic, and had a speech and language deficit, and suffered with her mental health at times.
It was for that reason she needed support to be independent.
Chanté didn’t let these things stop her, and she tried so hard to get on in life. She’d had many jobs and tried university but her mental health was crippling at times.
Her personality was huge and because of this the hole she has left is huge also.
I personally have cried everyday since August 12th 2025, anything from an item left in a drawer, to a memory coming up on Facebook…..
We all miss her so much. "
Emma Lloyd-Buckingham".
So many lives needlessly lost.

I will leave you with a heartfelt beautiful poem Karl wrote for Chantè, he read it at her funeral, from what I've learned about Chantè, it suits her perfectly:
In Loving Memory of Chante
A Celebration of Her Light
“I love you to the moon and back again.”
For Chante, who now Dances Among the Stars
Chante danced where petals kissed the air,
A blossom child, beyond compare.
With every twirl, the world grew bright
A song, a spark, a beam of light.
In fields of light where fairies play,
Chante twirled her joy in sweet ballet.
A songbird soul with laughter bright
Now dances softly into the night.
Chante’s voice, a melody of spring,
Still echoes when the robins sing.
Each note she gave, each step she spun,
Still warms the hearts of everyone.
Fairies watched with gentle grace,
As Chante filled the world with space
For dreams to bloom and hearts to mend
A soul too rare to comprehend.
Chante loved the flowers, wild and free,
The daisy, rose, and willow tree.
She’d hum to them beneath the sun,
As if the earth and she were one.
And though Chante’s gone from touch and sight,
She dances still in beams of light.
She sings in winds that kiss the rain,
And whispers through the windowpane:
“I love you to the moon and back again.”
Our phrase, our vow, a sweet refrain.
It echoes now in every breeze,
In rustling leaves and swaying trees.
Though now she sleeps in heaven’s care,
Chante’s spirit flutters everywhere.
In petals kissed by morning dew,
In every song the wind sings through.
So let us not just mourn her flight,
But celebrate her wings of light.
For Chante lives in every breeze,
In whispered songs among the trees.
Chante is the sparkle in the rain,
The hush of peace after the pain.
A fairy’s kiss upon our skin,
A love that never ends, within.
Chante is the hush of twilight skies,
The tear that falls, the smile that dries.
And when we speak her name aloud,
She dances gently through the cloud.
“I love you to the moon and back again.”
Forever etched in sun and rain.
Forever Chante, forever true
A love that lives in me and you."
