Discontinue the 24 hours in police custody show

The Issue

Leon Briggs died in police custody on the 4th November 2013,after being detained under section 136 of the Mental Health Act.An IPCC investigation is still ongoing into how Leon died. The IPCC have confirmed that there are grounds for criminal charges against the officers who have been suspended. The coroner Edward Thomas on 7th October 2014 disclosed that he had raised concerns regarding the programme as this compromises jury selection, given the amount of people watching the show.We feel this could jeopardise the investigation and is a serious threat to justice, which must be eradicated immediately. We do not see the harm in the actual show, but the timing is both insensitive to Leons family and a danger to a fair and transparent investigation.
