The Issue

Every time I navigate the turn lane leading to businesses near Walmart in Lincoln County, I’m filled with dread. The traffic chaos is a consistent headache, not just for me but for countless others who frequent that stretch of road. The main culprit? An inadequately managed entrance to Walmart that doubles as an exit, leading to a flurry of accidents and near-misses.

Drivers intending to enter Walmart from the north routinely get in the turn lane much earlier than they need. This premature maneuver not only blocks the lane but also disrupts those of us trying to access other businesses in the same area. Whenever I attempt to visit any establishment nearby, I'm invariably caught in this unnecessary congestion, battling pathways cluttered with inert vehicles queued up for Walmart.

The frequency of accidents here is alarming. According to local accident reports, this specific entrance area is a hotspot, a fact that is as frustrating as it is frightening. Traffic mishaps that could be easily prevented with proper planning and restructuring of access routes continue to rise in numbers. The people in our community deserve safer roads and better traffic management.

The solution is simple: transform the north Walmart entrance into an exit only route with the exception of semi trucks and those coming from the south and use the entrance at the traffic light as the only entrance for those coming from the north . This change could significantly ease the flow of traffic and reduce the risk of collisions. It might even encourage better shopping experiences for all, allowing for smoother ingress into and egress from Walmart, without compromising the safety of fellow drivers and pedestrians.

In making this adjustment, we also alleviate the stress on the surrounding roadways, making commuting smoother for people going to nearby businesses. There's a collective safety concern that needs addressing, and this restructuring is a plausible and necessary step forward.

Join me in urging our local transportation and planning authorities to act swiftly and convert the Walmart entrance into an exit only. Your signature can help pave the way to safer roads for everyone in Lincoln County. Please sign this petition today and let us drive change together.
