Hello My name is Odessa and I have been an Agora Cyber Charter School parent/learning coach for 12 years now. I have seen so many changes with Agora and like many of you made adjustments. Now the reason for this petition is because the one adjustment that is unfair to us as parents/learning coaches is the if your child is late to 2 or more classes they are automatically marked absent for the day. I have this problem with my teen in high school. I am working with him on his time management but none the less it is messing his attendance up when in fact he does go to class. Yes being on time is very important for our students to understand but sometimes things happen. I feel that if a child is late and marked absent by the teacher but they arrive to class, the teacher should change to late with the time the child arrived. Also no child should be missing classes but also if they went to all the other classes why should they be marked absent for the whole day? This messes up their attendance and moves them to the truancy ladder faster. I am not excusing said behaviors because things should be worked on but everyone has different circumstances. It could be power outage, internet troubles at the time, computer issues, sickness, etc things beyond our control.Some students just need to learn better time management. 

I am saying all of this because if you are like me and would like this to change please sign this petition so that we can make things better for our students, staff and oursleves. Also please continue to get ticket numbers for techinal issues and excuse notes.
