Hello people of the US. I am petitioning here to show the benefits of a multi party system. 

Firstly, it would allow for more representation for what the people want rather than the “lesser evil” which commonly happens when you only have two choices. You can either choose a Democrat or Republican and if you don’t agree with either you can vote for a smaller third-party candidate who doesn’t have a chance to win. 

Many people will say that with a third-party system you would need barely over a third to win the vote. Although this is a good point with a two-party system even if they get over half the votes it may only be because the other candidate wasn’t good rather than them being better.

 Another point I have is that it helps the flow of the government. With the current Government if there is an even number of Republicans and Democrats laws will not get passed if both sides disagree with another. There are times when the other side simply votes against it out of spite against them. 

My final point is that it would make it harder to influence the elections. Currently with only one other candidate it is easier to influence people by making one look bad while the other great. With more candidates it makes it harder to influence people’s perspectives.

Many people may think that this would allow for more radical parties such as the Nazi party in Germany. Although this happened there it wouldn’t happen here. Firstly, many people already agreed with beliefs they showed before it existed. WWI also amplified this which made it easier for them to take control. This wouldn’t happen in the US because those beliefs don’t exist nor are in a majority of people.

 A third party would help stop these problems allowing for a better government. Because of the benefits I hope you support my petition.
