This petition will be emailed to the director of dining services Joe Kraskouskas by the end of C Term/ start of D Term.

We the WPI students demand that the current meal exchange rate of $11 be changed back to $17. The current offerings in the CC are not sustainable nor are they positively contributing to the overall health or mental well-being of WPI students. The inclusion of mozzarella sticks as an entrée and the paper thin, scarcely filled subs are unacceptable. The heavy promotion of health food in the CC is strongly counteracted by the mozzarella stick's transition to an entrée, and is in no way beneficial for the student population. The numerous drinks and sides that are now unavailable to students, a popular example being Peace Tea, will only result in the continued decline of student mental health, happiness, and will remove all joy from on-campus dining.

Right now, WPI students do not need more million dollar administrative buildings. At such a rigorous institution, what we need is a welcoming and friendly environment wherever we go on campus. The changes being made to the CC decrease student morale and strip away the little pleasures of on-campus life bit by bit. The blatant penny-pinching is made more and more clear with every change made, and despite our tuition being at a record high, WPI students continue to pay for the mistakes of our trustees and administration in the dining hall. It is not our job to take the fall for them and skimping in the dining hall will certainly not make things better. We deserve real meals.

Peace Tea is a staple of WPI’s culture, and without it we are unhappy. A meal you have to settle for is dissatisfactory, and we refuse to settle any longer.
