My mini lop rabbit, Beatrix, died from choking after eating a Science Selective Adult Rabbit Food nugget on the morning of 29th January 2024.

She had been fed on the brand's House Rabbit Food for over a year prior to this, but I had purchased the regular Adult Food only 2 days before the tragic event because I couldn't get delivery of her regular nuggets in time after running out. The new nuggets were over twice the size, but it did not occur to me at the time that the change to a much larger-sized nugget might have been a factor.

Exactly one month later (29th February), my larger dwarf lop Fudge also choked after eating his morning nuggets (Science Selective Adult Food). Thankfully he survived. 

It seems too much of a coincidence that both my beloved bunnies choked having recently moved them to Science Selective Adult Food.

Having consulted vet, other rabbit owners and the online rabbit community via Facebook, it seems that I am not alone in my experience with these large, curved nuggets.

We urge Science Selective to urgently review and alter the shape of their otherwise excellent Adult Food to prevent further choking incidents, some fatal, in our pets.
