Change the rules on life sentence

Change the rules on life sentence
The Issue
I call on the government to change the rules for life sentences and perpetrators of murder more specifically. It feels right and just to implement a life sentence as 80 years minus the age of the victim.
So if the victim is a child of 10 then the suspect would expect a term of no less than 70 years. This would give justice to the family and mean that the perpetrator would not expect to leave prison early.
Like many affected by crime, the lost sense of justice due to the current judicial sentencing practices deeply impacts me. People enduring the impacts of serious crime often see the perpetrators released early, before serving their full sentence. This pattern has raised serious questions about our justice system's effectiveness and fairness, leading us to a pressing need for revision.
There is a proposal that, when applied, could add a measure of justice to sentencing serious crimes — introduce life sentences minus the age of the youngest victim. This would ensure that the perpetrator is held accountable, while also considering the age of the victim in the heinous act, thus embedding a greater layer of victim-centric fairness in this process.
The premature release of perpetrators not only undermines the confidence in our justice system but also sabotages the healing process for victims and their families.
This plea is for fairness. The justice system should reflect the meaning of the word 'justice'. A life sentence minus the age of the youngest victim rule could provide victims and their families with a sense of closure, knowing the perpetrator is properly serving their time. Let us stand united for this reform and restore faith in our justice system. Please sign this petition to solidify our determination and bring justice to the victims and their families.
