As an ardent follower of the National Hockey League (NHL) and a proud fan of the Colorado team, I find something unsettling. While most team names are plural (like the Kings, Oilers, Red Wings, and Blues), our very own Colorado team's official name remains singular: "The Avalanche." Even more baffling is the common nickname we use for the team, which is "The Avs," a plural term. Thus, I passionately request that the official name of our beloved Colorado team be changed to "The Avalanches."

Consistency should be maintained within the league, as it is vital for the sport's integrity. Most professional sports teams, including roughly 89 percent of NHL teams, have plural names (source: Sportingnews.com). Yet, the Colorado team is an exception along with a small minority. I find this notably odd, given that the colloquial usage already embraces the plurality.

Changing the name to "The Avalanches" would not only mirror the established norm of team denominations but also align with our fans' vernacular expression. Join me in this movement.
