Change the name “Silkworm” to “Silk-caterpillars”

The Issue

Silkworms, our lovely bug that is used to make silk, are not worms. So why the hell are we calling them worms?

Silkworms are caterpillars. They are larvae of silk moths. Silk is made out of their cocoons. Their cocoons. Worms do not have cocoons. Caterpillars put themselves in cocoons to mush up their insides and turn into butterflies or moths. Worms do not turn into butterflies or moths. They are only worms.
I understand how one might come up with the name silk”worms” considering how they have the vague worm-like appearance. But do we call every long, squiggly, (appeared) non-legged animal worms? No, we do not. Snakes, eels, slugs, (maybe snails), centipedes, and certain fish are not called worms are they? No, because they’re not worms. And neither are caterpillars.
So why do we call these beautiful going-to-be-moths worms? We already kill 420 billion to 1 trillion of these bugs every year before they’re even able to become adults, and we disrespect them by calling them worms?
Caterpillars have eyes! They have legs! And they have any sense of being a conscience being! All things worms don’t have. So stop calling them worms! Misinformation causes people to boil their shoes and use butter as a soap.

This is why, friends (or enemies), we should start calling silkworms silk-caterpillars (with or without the dash). Because silkworms are not worms. Silkworms are caterpillars.
(we also could call them “larvae of a silk moth” / “silk moth larvae” but I doubt people would want to say all that)

Thank you :)

We should also probably stop boiling them alive to make silk too. That’d be nice to stop.
