Change the Name of 'Americano' Coffee to 'Africano' Coffee

Change the Name of 'Americano' Coffee to 'Africano' Coffee

The issue

This petition represents a small but significant step in promoting love, cooperation, and positivity rather than being driven by fear and ego.

Many of us are not aware that the name of the popular 'Americano' coffee doesn't celebrate the true origins of coffee. The term 'Americano' comes from Americano GIs during WWII, who would dilute the European espresso to make it similar to the coffee they were accustomed to. However, it's a little-known fact that the heartland of coffee cultivation lies within Africa, specifically Ethiopia, where it was discovered in the 11th century.

With this petition, we aim to honor the true origins of coffee and its culturally rich history. We propose changing the name of 'Americano' to 'Africano', to pay tribute to the people that represent coffee's true heritage, instead of associating it with a region that neither majorly produces, nor boasts the best coffee worldwide.

This small change can make a big impact by bringing attention to and celebrating the real contributors of this revered beverage. It is a symbolic gesture against the culture of narcissism and egoistic leadership, a stand against the erasure of contributions made by those untold in history.

Join me in this campaign to rename the 'Americano' as the 'Africano'. Let's honor the true origins of coffee and the people who rightly deserve the credit. Sign the petition today!
