Change the law to restrict transgender individuals in female toilets in WA

Change the law to restrict transgender individuals in female toilets in WA
The issue
My recent experience has deeply concerned me as a mother. I went to the toilet with my three-year-old daughter, who I've always taught that if there's a male figure in the toilet, she should wait until they're gone. However, during this visit, a transgender individual, who for all purposes appeared to be biologically male, entered and used the stall next to us. This incident has not just left me worried for my daughter’s safety, but also confused her understanding of privacy expectations.
In some countries current policies allow transgender individuals to use public restrooms corresponding to their gender identity. While inclusivity is important, it must not come at the cost of privacy and security concerns for women and children in places as intimate as public lavatories. It is crucial to consider the feelings of discomfort and confusion that women, especially young girls, like my daughter, may experience in these situations.
Statistically, the presence of individuals who do not align with one's biological sex in gender-specific spaces tends to cause significant distress to a majority of biological women. Ensuring safe and comfortable spaces for biological women should be a priority, to protect their rights without infringing on those of others.
Therefore, I urge lawmakers in all countries to reconsider and amend the law allowing transgender males to use female toilets. Protective measures should be implemented such as providing separate, gender-neutral toilets which can be utilized by transgender individuals without compromising the safety or comfort of anyone else. Such an adaptation respects the identities of transgender individuals while honouring the privacy and security that women expect in these spaces.
Let us safeguard the interests of all by finding a viable solution that serves both transgender individuals and biological females, especially young children like my daughter. Please sign this petition to initiate a constructive dialogue with the goal of changing the current law to better serve everyone’s needs and ensure a more considerate and inclusive approach for all concerned.
