Change The Dangerous Dog Act 1991

Change The Dangerous Dog Act 1991
The Issue
At APES we believe that dogs that are dangerous are not always down to breed.
We believe that most of the time is down to "genetics, clinical, behavioural and environmental factors."
We believe a breed should not be singled out as being aggressive, and that potential owners of dogs need to have the correct knowledge when owning a dog, including signs of aggression and some expertise when it comes to certain types of breeds.
- We need to stop breed blaming and asses individual dogs, by having criteria of assessment when by determining if a dog is dangerous.
- We also recommend that local councils, social work owners by assessing if they should be an owner and if the owner should be removed from having the dog.
- The introduction of dog owner licenses ensures that assessed people are the only people able to purchase a dog.
- Tests to confirm someone has the correct knowledge to keep a dog.
- Stopping dog abusers so they don't get old on another dog, there should be a banned owners list.
Below is an example video of why the law regarding dangerous dogs needs to adapt and change.
Help us get the Dangerous Dog Act 1991 amended and reinforced to stop unnecessary culling of dogs and to promote responsible ownership of dogs. Not every dog is to blame, as humans, with brains and intelligence we are responsible for our dogs, we domesticated them so please support our cause.
