Change Saskatchewan's vehicle window tint laws

Change Saskatchewan's vehicle window tint laws
The Issue
As a professional window tinter with 25 years of experience in Saskatchewan, I've had countless conversations with customers who advocate for the practical benefits of 50% window tinting on the driver’s and passenger windows. Many of these individuals, alongside myself, believe that such a level of tinting is both reasonable and safe, posing no threats to occupants or law enforcement officers.
Currently, Saskatchewan's stringent regulations prevent countless vehicle owners from enjoying the practical benefits of a well-tinted vehicle, such as improved UV protection, better temperature control, and reduced glare, all without significantly reducing visibility. Numerous studies have evidenced that reasonable levels of tinting can decrease the risk of skin cancer, enhance driving comfort, and even improve fuel efficiency by reducing the reliance on air conditioning.
Additionally, an expansion of tint eyebrows to the AS1 line on windshields aligns with standards already accepted in several regions. Such adjustments will not only modernize Saskatchewan’s vehicle tinting laws but will also bring them in line with those of other forward-thinking jurisdictions. Provinces such as Alberta and Manitoba have already adopted more lenient policies without compromising road safety.
The myth that window tints pose significant safety hazards is not supported by available data. Law enforcement in provinces with more permissive tint policies have not reported increased incidents, while occupants benefit from spick-and-span visibility inside and reduced harsh sunlight exposure.
By updating our outdated tinting laws, we can embrace the numerous advantages that modern window tints offer, enhance safety, and keep pace with neighboring provinces. Your support will drive this change, offering more freedom to vehicle owners while maintaining road safety.
I urge you to sign this petition to push the Saskatchewan government to review and amend its vehicle window tint laws. Let's work together to change the regulations that impact us all, making our roads more comfortable and safer for everyone. Please sign to make a difference today.
