The Premiere of Quebec, Francois Legaut, has decided that now, of all times, during this gruelling pandemic, we should be able to celebrate Christmas with family and friends. For this he has mandated a "moral contract" as he has put it. The contract is as follows; we shut our schools and businesses (if possible) and stay at home for a week, starting on the 17th December (which also happens to be Hannukah), and on the 24th until the 27th, we are free to party with up to 10 people and an unlimited amount of parties and then we again stay home for an additional week.

It all sounds lovely. But what if you do not celebrate Christmas? What if your children have been in and out of school since september and are not settling? What if you work, but your children will be home for an additional 2 weeks with the added burden of distance learning and they don't even know why, because they didnt even get to celebrate Hannukah? 

If our entire schools and communities are not celebrating, why are we forced to join this lockdown. It doesn't benefit us, and doesnt help those that do celebrate because they are not in our (private) schools. We wish them the best, and are sincerely happy they get to celebrate. But let's sign this, asking the Premier to exclude private schools that will not celebrate Christmas.
