As a proud student of the graduating class of 2024 at John Battle high school, I feel strongly that our senior song should reflect our unique experiences and shared memories. The current selection - the SpongeBob theme song - does not adequately represent us or our journey through high school. While SpongeBob may have been a part of many childhoods, it doesn't encapsulate the growth we've undergone or the challenges we've faced as students.

In fact, according to a survey by National Association for Music Education (NAfME), music plays an essential role in graduation ceremonies because it helps evoke emotions and memories associated with this significant milestone. It is therefore crucial that our senior song resonates with us on a personal level.

I propose that we change this year's senior song to one that truly reflects who we are as individuals and as a collective group. Let's choose a melody that will make us remember these years fondly and inspire us as we step into the next chapter of our lives.
