Change of language rule in the new CBSE guidelines.

The Issue

Speaking as a student who has final exams going on right now, the pressure is crumbling. We have to study for hours everyday with an overly extensive course, but that’s something we have to do. But what CBSE has implemented now is absolutely inhuman. I was happy that Hindi would be gone in high school. With the more extensive course of 9th, it’s better that 1 subject is reduced. But guess what? CBSE’s main plan seems to be putting the students through mental agony. I am not much of a Hindi speaker, so hearing this rule that 2 native languages have to be taken along with English is just depressing. Why do this? It’s just unfair to every student. For 3 years through middle school we learnt our 3rd language and made progress. Now? It’s all coming to an abrupt stop. They are saying that taking this language would be considered an additional subject. It’s just insanity at this point. For those people who have been learning Sanskrit through middle school, it’s fine, but which student would be comfortable with starting something completely new, learning an entire other language from scratch, after doing so much of the language they had been learning. If the response to this is that they can still take that language, I have got to say, which student in their right mind would even be willing to take a 11TH SUBJECT? There’s only so much we can do, only so much we can study. There is absolutely no need for more emphasis on native languages and our point of view is that this rule is just being implemented for the heck of it. We’re comfortable with what we’ve been learning. After graduating, most people want to go abroad. This “emphasis” is utterly useless. I’m a Spanish student. I know for a fact that it’s the 2nd most spoken language in the world. If I ever go to South America, ever, imagine how much it would benefit me. It’s helpful in life, learning a foreign language. But no. CBSE has decided that ENGLISH is a foreign language. I can’t even say anymore at this point, neither can I express my anger and sheer disappointment with this cruelty. Whoever is against this insanity, please sign and spread this petition everywhere and get it to our goal to show CBSE that putting students through hell is not okay.
