Update: Due to building codes for family child care homes moving to R4, the law will do nothing for our state. Family child care homes do not have the means or capacity to move walls to meet these codes. Amend the building codes to reflect the law change! 

The licensed family childcare homes of North Carolina would like to petition the state to increase our ratios!  North Carolina is a childcare desert, and we would like to provide our services for more families and children.  It has been known throughout the state that family childcare homes provide an exceptional service and best practice in regards early care and education.  The time is now, before an already fractured system becomes crumbled. The stabilization grants by the American Rescue Plan Act are decreasing and coming to an end.  Our fear is many more licensed family childcare homes will not be able to sustain their businesses and will close.
