Many women and girls feel uncomfortable, vulnerable, and anxious when confronted with mixed sex changing facilities. The fundamental right to privacy and safety during these intimate moments should not be compromised.

According to numerous surveys on comfort and safety in leisure centres, a considerable number of female patrons prefer single sex facilities precisely for the privacy they provide. Single sex spaces promote a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere where everyone can feel safe and respected.

We urge the East Riding of Yorkshire Council to revise its stance and implement single sex changing areas in the new Goole Leisure Centre.
