The issue
As a dedicated makeup artist in our community, I have the privilege of helping students look their best for significant events like Leavers dinners and assemblies. Unfortunately, when Latrobe High School, Devonport High School, and Reece High School all schedule their Leavers dinners and assemblies on the same day, it creates a heartbreaking situation for both service providers like myself and countless students. With such limited availability, many students miss out on the opportunity to feel confident and celebrate this milestone event to the fullest.
The coinciding schedules not only put undue pressure on service providers but also on students and their families. The struggle to accommodate beauty appointments, transportation, and family participation in all events adds unnecessary stress and diminishes this important rite of passage. Furthermore, overlapping events diminish the community feel, as friends from different schools cannot celebrate together.
A change in scheduling would provide tangible benefits. By coordinating and adjusting the dates for these events, we can ensure that all students have equal opportunities to participate and enjoy their Leavers celebrations. It would allow them to fully engage with their peers, cherish memories, and relieve the burden on everyone involved.
Let's unite our voices to advocate for a change that respects and honors this crucial time for our high school leavers. Sign this petition to urge the administrations of Latrobe High School, Devonport High School, and Reece High School to coordinate and reschedule these important events. Together, we can ensure that our students celebrate without limitations and stress.
