The Issue

I recently watched an interview with the Argentinian singer Cazzu, who opened up about a harrowing personal struggle that resonated deeply with me. In this interview, Cazzu shared how her daughter is effectively being held hostage by the father. Despite neglecting his responsibilities as a parent, he refuses to sign any documents that would allow his daughter and her mother, Cazzu, to have a better life together. This is a situation that, unfortunately, many single parents find themselves in. Cazzu, while acknowledging her relatively better economic situation, highlighted the significant challenges faced by single parents who need to travel for work.

Single parents often have to juggle work commitments with childcare responsibilities, which is an incredibly difficult task, especially when legal obstacles prevent them from bringing their children along for work trips. Currently, the legal framework does not adequately support single parents, particularly mothers, in such scenarios, leaving them at the mercy of bureaucratic hurdles and uncooperative ex-partners.

Imagine the helplessness of standing at an airport gate, ready to board a flight for a work opportunity, yet knowing your child cannot accompany you due to an unyielding legal system. Single parents deserve the right to provide for their children without being subjected to unnecessary legal obstacles that prevent them from doing what's best for their family.

We need laws that allow single parents to take their children with them across borders without facing significant red tape. Governments should recognize the unique circumstances faced by single parents and work towards creating a legal process that respects their rights and facilitates their needs.

This petition calls for a revision of existing laws to create a more supportive environment for single parents who work and travel internationally. It's time we recognize and act upon the challenges that single parents face and ensure they have the freedom and support to care for their children effectively.

Let's stand together to demand these necessary changes. Sign this petition to raise your voice and make a difference for single parents everywhere.
