Change Kirkwood's computer science focus from web design to game development

Change Kirkwood's computer science focus from web design to game development
The Issue
We, the undersigned students and supporters of Kirkwood, request that the school consider changing the direction of the computer programming program from web design to game development. We believe that shifting the focus to game development will benefit both the students and the school in various ways.
Reasons for Changing the Focus to Game Development:
- Engagement and Motivation: Game development is a popular and engaging field that can inspire students to be more motivated and excited about learning programming concepts. It provides a creative outlet for students to apply their skills and see tangible results in the form of interactive games.
- Real-World Applications: Game development offers students practical experience in creating software applications that are not only fun but also challenging. This hands-on approach can better prepare students for future careers in the tech industry.
- Job Opportunities: The game development industry is a rapidly growing field with a high demand for skilled professionals. By focusing on game development, students can gain relevant skills and potentially increase their job prospects upon graduation.
- Creativity and Innovation: Game development encourages creativity, problem-solving, and innovation, essential skills for success in the digital age. By exploring game development, students can push the boundaries of their imagination and think outside the box.
Benefits for the School:
- Improved Reputation: By offering a game development program, Kirkwood can enhance its reputation as a forward-thinking institution that adapts to the evolving needs of the tech industry. This can attract more students and faculty to the school.
- Partnership Opportunities: Focusing on game development can open up collaboration opportunities with industry partners, gaming studios, and tech companies. These partnerships can lead to internships, guest lectures, and other valuable resources for students.
- Competitive Edge: By differentiating itself with a game development program, Kirkwood can stand out among other educational institutions and attract students who are passionate about gaming and technology.
- Switching to a Game Development class would also not come to any extra cost for the school all that would be required is a change of standards.
In light of these reasons, we urge Kirkwood to consider our proposal to shift the computer programming focus to game development. We believe that this change will not only benefit the students but also contribute to the overall growth and success of the school. Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely, the undersigned
