Change JHS/JMS Dress Code

Change JHS/JMS Dress Code

The Issue

The students in Jefferson City Highschool and Jefferson City Middle School feel the dress code is overly strict and outdated. The clothes we wear to school do not define how we learn or how you can educate us. We want to feel comfortable and confident in our clothes; this dress code does not allow that. I do not want to wear my leggings with a T-shirt that basically goes down to my knees. I also do not understand why we can wear shorts that go three inches above our knee or lower, but can't wear jeans with holes on our knees. It's hard for some students to find shorts/pants now that meet your expectations. We understand dress code is mandatory, and we aren't saying to get rid of it entirely; instead, we want to come to school feeling comfortable. You say we need to focus on our education rather than our clothing, but with all these strict rules, we don't know how you want us to do that.

Please help us show JHS/JMS how serious we are about this strict dress code and sign this petition!
