The current school policy in the Exupery International School in Piņķi, Babīte parish, Mārupe Municipality, Latvia restricts students from buying certain items like coffee outside of lunch hours. This limitation not only hampers the freedom of choice but also affects those who might need a caffeine boost at different times during the day. According to a study by the National Sleep Foundation, teenagers require 8-10 hours of sleep per night. However, due to various reasons such as academic pressure and extracurricular activities, many do not get enough sleep and rely on caffeinated drinks like coffee to stay alert throughout the day (National Sleep Foundation). By extending canteen operating hours for all products including coffee, we can ensure that every student has access to what they need when they need it. We urge the school administration to reconsider this rule and make our school canteen more accessible and accommodating for all students. Please sign this petition if you agree with our cause.
