The Issue

As a single mother living with a disability, I have faced numerous challenges and injustices, despite always being in complete compliance with the requirements of specific governmental organizations. This personal experience has driven me to recognize that the rules and decision-making processes within our government often fail vulnerable individuals, creating situations where people like me are treated unfairly.

Currently, many governmental systems and procedures do not adequately consider the needs and circumstances of those who are most affected by their decisions. For example, according to the [National Disability Institute](https://www.nationaldisabilityinstitute.org/ over 29% of people with disabilities live below the poverty line. That's nearly double the rate of nondisabled individuals. This statistic highlights the urgent need for policy changes that provide adequate support and fairness for disabled individuals.

To address these issues, it is essential to implement policy reforms that ensure equitable treatment for all citizens, particularly those who are disabled or from marginalized communities. Policies should be reconsidered and rewritten with transparency and inclusivity. This includes engaging with affected communities to ensure their voices are heard, conducting thorough impact assessments, and implementing accountability measures to track progress.

Furthermore, training government officials on issues relating to disability and inclusivity can enhance their decision-making capabilities and promote greater empathy and understanding towards underrepresented demographics.

By signing this petition, you are advocating for change in how our government crafts policies and makes decisions. Let's work together to create a system that treats everyone justly, irrespective of their circumstances. Please sign this petition to push for government action towards fairer decision-making processes.
