April 2024 I was assaulted by My Husband he had punched me in the face choked me to the point of suffocation took my phone and my keys to my vehicle so I was unable to fleet. I was notified the next morning that there was an eight hour window for an immediate arrest for domestic violence, My Husband was never arrested, This eight hour window between the time the incident happened to the time I was able to report it. Two months later the quote granted me a five year protection order he pleaded guilty November 25 and was sentenced to 30 days in jail on the weekends. I am a mother to a nine-year-old little boy My Husband almost orphaned my nine-year-old eight hours is not enough time. This should not be put in place eight our window. The abuser could kill the victim and get away with it, and a judge gets to take their time to sentence that individual.
