Currently, schools under the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation(EVSC) must follow a uniform-like dress code known as "Dress for Success". Main requirements of the dress code are that students must wear khaki or Navy pants, and a collared shirt(ex: polo, button up,etc.). This dress code has been in place for several years however, recently many students have began stressing their problems with the dress code. Some of the main problems include, but aren't limited to: -Not being allowed to wear hoodies or other hooded jackets

                            -being restrictive of creative expression

                            -interrupting students' education because they aren't in dress code

EVSC students want something done, we want change, The request we have, if this petition is to be successful, is that the EVSC school board works with a select few of students to get rid of the current uniform-like dress code and replace it with one similar to ones that are in place at other schools in the state.  It is true that school should be focused on learning, but the current result is that students are being pulled out of class, sent to the office, etc. simply because they're wearing a hoodies, or their shirt isn't button; the dress code is becoming something that is keeping students from their education. The EVSC student body would like and hope that this will change. So please sign this petition!
