Animal Protection Laws of Arizona

The Issue

The state of Arizona recognizes animals who have been injured or killed as personal property.  As such, they are valued or depreciated, much like common inanimate objects. Our companion animals provide unconditional love, comfort, and support. These members of our family do not deserve to be depreciated based on age, health, injury, etc. Together, we can change Arizona Law and put in place legal language which holds public/private practices or individuals accountable for their wrongdoing to our beloved pets and family - without the burden of explicating their immediate monetary value.

Change Language of House Bill 2088 (Arizona Laws 2015, ch. 276)

Currently the bill reads as follows:

"Personal property" includes money, goods, chattels, things
in action and evidences of debt.

Similar to the Animal Protection Laws of Maine, Arizona needs to clearly define:

  • Substantiative Prohibitions
  • Procedural Matters
  • Miscellaneous Provisions

Let's take a stand for the animals who provide us with so much but remain voiceless. Every signature counts. Please sign today!
