I believe kids should have the option to play a sport instead of getting into trouble or sitting in front of a video game. Many children either don't make it onto school teams or simply don't want to play for school teams. Therefore, expanding the opportunities for them to enjoy sports outside of school is crucial.

Cleveland TN's Bradley County Parks and Recreation currently has age restrictions that prevent kids up to the age of 16 from participating in softball and baseball leagues. This is a missed opportunity for many young individuals who could benefit greatly from being involved in organized sports. Participation in sports is not just about physical activity; it provides essential life skills such as teamwork, leadership, and discipline. Additionally, sports offer a constructive outlet that helps keep kids engaged in positive activities rather than being idle or potentially engaging in negative behaviors.

Our community thrives when our youth are active and engaged. Many of them aspire to play baseball or softball but lack the chance within the current structure due to stringent age restrictions. Those who cannot join school teams should have the liberty to continue playing in community leagues until they are 16.
