Add a Bike Path in Between the Education Building and SSMS Building at UCSB

The Issue

Are you tired of getting biking tickets for biking through the lawn between the Education Building and Social Sciences and Media Studies Building? I believe there should be a bike path that allows students coming from the ICA and Recreation Center areas to get on campus quicker versus going all the way around using the current bike paths.

Police randomly patrol the lawn sidewalk area and write tickets to students where they often bike across instead of walk their bikes. Students tend to stay on their bikes instead of walk them because it is such a short distance and it is way faster and easier to just stay on their bike. This pathway is a popular route for students to take because it cuts the amount of time it takes to get on campus and leads you directly to the bike paths near campus.

The problem is that students are continuously getting fined for not walking their bikes on the 700 foot sidewalk that provides a short cut to campus. To solve this problem, I suggest that UCSB and The Office of Campus Planning and Design put in a bike path in between the buildings to avoid students getting ticketed and allow them to take this route to get on campus quicker.
