The picture you see here is of "Hope", a happy and playful stray dog that lived near the sprawling Campus of the Lovely Professional University, and who would be fed each day, by one of the students. This picture was taken about 20 minutes before Hope died of injuries sustained after receiving a brutal and unprovoked beating, delivered while he cowered in fear and cried out. According to witnesses, the beating was delivered by security guards employed by the university.

The student who was feeding Hope would arrive to campus early and find Hope waiting happily and trustingly looking forward to seeing his human friend. Hope would always take the food offered gently and afterward would profusely lick the face of his benefactor as if to say"Thank You."

On 3/31/15 the student arrived a few minutes later than usual and instead of finding Hope wagging his tail, found him half sitting, dazed and in a pool of his own blood. The student tried to comfort Hope in an attempt to alleviate his suffering, but Hopes injuries were catastrophic. The student brought Hope to a local vet, where he died within an hour.

After this event the students began to talk to one another and a pattern of systemic animal abuse was identified. Witnesses claiming that the killing of stray dogs, including the crushing of puppies, or tossing them into dumpsters to die; was part of a mandate issued to the schools security team.

It is said that the main measure of our Humanity; can be summed up by how we treat those creatures who are at our mercy....
