Though many see the common honeybee as a pest, the entire species is vital to the Earth’s health. It is important to remember that they are one of the most important pollinators of plants (not exclusively flowers). A global study on pollinator effectiveness and plant-pollinator interactions found that  the honeybee is the most frequent "floral visitor" in natural habitats all over the world in 34 species of plants. They had an average of 13% of floral visits and 5% being plants. Scientists have confidently said that if bees disappeared, humans would only survive four more years. Over the past sixty years, Europe has documented a drastic decline in the species. 17% of their population has gone away since 1990.

We contribute so much to this issue by using extremely detrimental pesticides with these insects, having little respect and thought of future generations in the process. In the United States, two newly un-banned pesticides, flupyradifurone (sold with the brand name Sivanto) and sulfoxaflor (brand name Transform WG) are destroying the lives and homes of many beneficial insects. Stopping this would not only save a countless amount of bees, but also those working in honey businesses, and future generations lives.

Bees in other areas are thriving because the people have prioritized them and the future of the Earth. The United States needs to follow Germany, UK, Hungry, etc 's footsteps to aid the bees if we want a viable future. Climate change has been proven a rushing issue time and again; this is a step we can take to soon fix the growing and drastic issues regarding the environment.

This issue is bigger than a tiny sting in the summer. It is beautiful flowers in the spring, the flavor in your tea, potato soup, and the sweet summer air you breathe. It is crucial that we act on this issue immediately, before it is too late. Please sign this petition to show your support for the bees and call action to the corporations that continue to harm them!
