I am a student from Abbotsford Christian School. I am doing a project called Here I Stand, where we help a problem in our community. I am standing for more space for swimming year-round. To do so I would like for Abbotsford to build a cover on the Centennial Pool so that it is available for use year-round.

Why?

• Compared to other cities with a similar size to Abbotsford (like Prince George, Kelowna and Nanaimo), we have less pool space available to us for swim lessons. Each of these locations even have a 50m pool!
• In 2022, 12,000 people were on waitlists for swimming lessons in Abbotsford; 
• The Whalers Swim club has had their winter pool space at the ARC reduced by approximately 1/3 in the last year due to not having enough space for city lessons;
• According to Global News, drowning rates are going up in B.C.

The Mill Lake Park Master Plan is currently being drafted. Now is the time to make a difference.
