I encourage EVERYONE to please use your voice for our children’s education!  I am asking those with in our Centennial School district who have active child K-12 to please sign this petition to return 5 days in person. We have been out of school far too long, we are now in 4 days for our Elementary kids, and our Secondary school students are alternating weekly two and three days. There is no structure at all..what is one more day?

Not every family is the same, we don’t all have the luxury to stay home without worrying about bills, we have multiple children who are on different schedules who distract others within the household from their virtual learning. Not every child is the same, one does great virtually, where my other struggles. If we cannot do 5 day in person, are there going to be options available for those students who struggled and fell behind throughout summer free of cost to us parents? We need change within our district. And our board members as well as our superintendent are not listening or seeing the struggles these families and children are facing.

Let me also add, this has NOTHING to do with our hardworking, overworked teachers. They have been nothing but amazing in the situation they have been given. They are REAL LIFE HEROES. However this school board and Superintendent have yet to put our children, families and teachers first.

Below is an email sent to the CSD. Please read and sign if you agree enough is enough!!

SPEAK UP, SPEAK LOUD, DONT BACK DOWN, DONT BE SILENCED. Our children have a voice as do their family’s. They need to be heard.

“Good Afternoon,

I wanted to reach out to all of you in regards to this board meeting voting “NO” to 5 days a week. This is absurd, to think this school board is putting our children first is a constant lie. So many children have fallen dramatically behind educationally; my son included. These children have an attention span of a gnat, especially at home where there are thousands of distractions and siblings that have different schedules, or parents working at the same time of trying to get them to focus. Now you state that we will be able to revisit the vote in May. Can you explain to me exactly how one month can change anything at all? We have been going through this for over a year. A year without work, a year without human interaction, without our teachers and hands on learning.

I, as many other parents will agree that these children and teachers deserve to be back full time. There is no excuse to not return, teachers are vaccinated. If we continue on this path will there be programs provided free of charge for children who have fallen behind throughout the summer or for those parents who are in dire need to return to work as we struggle to keep a roof over our heads? Or is that also not your problem?

Seems like centennial used to be a district about their children and their fellow family members, as the pandemic hit you would think it would be more of a reason to be there for the community and come together. However this school board, and Superintendent seem to put our local families and children very last on their lists. I wouldn’t be surprised if you see a drastic decline of school attendees next year. I have never been so ashamed to be apart of this district and the handling throughout this pandemic.

You all need to take responsibility for the poor decision making that have ultimately impacted our Childrens education and family living. I have not seen one person admit, or take responsibility. As all of you have children grown, or retired, or in another school district, your pockets are full and you don’t see first hand how this has impacted these kids.

I will not be silent, I will not stand down, and I will not be ignored. My children attend this district, they have a voice, and these children need to be heard. Stop ignoring it!” It’s time to open our doors for K-12 students for those who want to return, with choice of all virtual for those who don’t. We should have that choice. Give it to us!!!!
