Cell Phone Message Censorship

The Issue

As a small business owner, one of the key ways we communicate with our customers is through text messages.    In the past few months more and more of my messages are being rejected as "spam" by the cell phone providers and not delivered to my customers.   These are people that are customers and have asked to receive correspondence from me.  And because of this censorship, they are not receiving the information they would and do find important.

I agree that blanket spamming of people should not be allowed.  Similar to the do not call list there should be a do not text list.   And companies (including small business) should be required legally to honor it,  BUT for those people that have opted to receive messages the cell phone companies should not have the power to just not deliver them.   This is a suppression of the fundamental right of freedom of speech - period!

By signing this petition you are asking cell phone providers to stop rejecting messages based on some erroneous algorithm and to deliver messages as they are sent.  Furthermore, you are asking the US Congress to review this abuse of power and restore our fundamental right to have freedom of speech across a fundamental basic communication platform of today's time - the cell phone.
