With Portland’s housing crisis, many individuals have been forced to seek residence elsewhere, often in locations without a strong sense of community. In reaction to this growing problem, our goal is to create a sustainable intentional community with cohousing, vacation rentals, and a public space for workshops and events. We plan to have a strong focus on reducing economic barriers through hosting donation-based events when possible, as well as providing opportunities for work exchanges. This business will serve to create connections and build a much needed stronger sense of community in Maine. We also intend to use this as an opportunity to create a safe space where individuals from all backgrounds can feel a sense of belonging. To show the interest in this endeavor, we have created this petition to present the market need for this type of space. All signatures will be added to the business plan to help obtain funding for this project.
