We desire to bring to light an issue negatively impacting our local sports community. Hayfield has hired Coach Darryl Overton away from Freedom High School, leading to a mass migration of students transferring to Hayfield with him. Such actions disrupt the balance and fairness within the sports community and needs to be halted. We must promote an athletic environment that emphasizes fairness, integrity, and equal opportunities for all students, regardless of the school they attend. This petition calls for an end to such practices that favor one team over another, particularly in the case of Hayfield football. This action not only competes with the spirit of the game but also can lead to elevating the team artificially. Ensuring equal opportunities to all team is a must, and any remainder of favoritism can harm the school sports culture on a wider scale.
