From personal experience, as an ardent animal adorer, it rips my heart apart to learn that animals are subject to agonizing tests and cruelty. The sight of them suffering is unbearable, and lab animals have no voice; they can't ask for our help. Therefore, we need to step forward on their behalf.

Every year, more than 100 million animals, including mice, rats, frogs, dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, monkeys, fish, and birds, are killed in U.S. laboratories for biology lessons, medical training, curiosity-driven experimentation, and chemical, drug, food, and cosmetic testing (PETA). This is far too many; one life taken for the sake of testing is one too many. We believe that animals have the same rights to dignity and respect just as much as humans do and their lives should not be sacrificed for the ease of our own.

In the age of technology and advancement in science, there are alternatives to testing on animals such as using human cells and tissues, computer modelling or volunteers. These alternatives not only cease the cruelty towards these innocent creatures, they are often less time consuming, less expensive and include better predictive value for human toxicity than animal tests (The Humane Society International).

Together, we can influence the cessation of such inhumane practices. We urge all, as humane and responsible members of society, to end this age-old practice of animal testing and work towards innovative, more ethical modes of experimentation.
