Allow children of Barrett Farms to attend the school they can see from their homes.

Allow children of Barrett Farms to attend the school they can see from their homes.
The Issue
For the past 2 years the children of the Barrett Farm housing development have watched the David E Robinson Elementary School being built just a half a mile away from their homes. These kids have been looking forward to joining so many of their friends from last year in the surrounding area at this beautiful new school just down the road. What all of us were unaware of until recently was that somehow the Caesar Rodney School Board does not consider us to be zoned for this new school and that our children are to continue to attend Star Hill Elementary School over 2 miles away. The distance issue is not the only concern for parents and students, almost all of the staff from Star Hill last year have transferred to David E. Robinson leaving a massive void of experienced educators. What limited information we have been able to attain about what the experience for our students at Star Hill will be for next year is concerning in many aspects. The projections are for only one class per grade, creating a very congested environment where children will only be able to advance at one pace. This will also highly limit the diversity of social interaction that kids this age need. We ask that you help us convince the Caesar Rodney School Board to include the Barrett Farm housing development in the zoning for David E. Robinson elementary school. We sincerely want to give the best educational opportunities and life experiences as possible to the children of our community.
