Hello Professor, You would have heard about the new normalisation process devised this year for the JEE Main for admissions to NITs and other CFTIs. However, certain anomalies have cropped up as you would have seen. Students expecting ranks of 2000 have ended with those of 50000, and vice versa. 60% weightage was given to JEE Main exam and 40% to boards. There is no problem with the inclusion of 40% board weightage, but with how the marks for those 40% are being allotted. Here are two files which explain the fallacy in detail. http://goo.gl/qgzZ5 http://goo.gl/LodYr There are four major points on which we base our argument. 1. The normalisation mapping is completely wrong as you would see in the first file. 2. This is no way of bringing over 30 boards on the same footing, with the number of students in each board playing a vital role as to how many marks each student will be allotted in the current scheme.
