Stop the targetted online harassment of Trina Njoroge and her family

The Issue

Love Island has a long-standing toxic history of casting Black women, without casting an adequate number of men who are genuinely attracted to them. This common storyline is used for ratings, and we have ultimately seen that play out this season in a disgusting way. Trina, one of the Black women on the show, has been subjected to strategic editing and portrayal that has led to online hate and bullying being hurled towards her and her family. CBS and Love Island USA producers are 100% responsible for this especially since they themselves have encouraged some of the online vitriol with their social media posts. As fans, we are concerned that their actions are at the expense of the well-being & mental health of Trina and her loved ones. We demand accountability and a change because we will no longer stand for the sacrifice of Black women for entertainment and ratings. There have already been a number of suicides in the Love Island franchise and we worry that the actions of the studio are turning their backs on all the commitments they have made to reform the online environment of the show that has been a huge contributor to it.
