Remove McKeeva Bush from Government for Abuse and Inappropriate Behaviour

The Issue

On Friday, February 21, 2020, William McKeeva Bush, Speaker of the House of the Cayman Islands Government, was allegedly witnessed by approximately 50-60 people at Coral Beach Club on Seven Mile Beach (Grand Cayman) physically beating the bar manager when she tried to assist him up from a drunken stumble.

Although the bar manager has yet to speak out (for her own reasons - she might be afraid, since Mr. Bush has many connections, is in a position of power, and is reportedly part-owner of Coral Beach, her place of employment. Or she might be concerned for the impact on her career, which could be impacted by a public incident like this), the RCIPS still have a duty to uphold in enforcing the law. Instead, they have allowed him to leave the island on a flight overseas during a strangely long initial investigation.

The police have since issued a statement confirming that the incident took place, and Bush has since admitted to the incident in a public letter, but claims no memory of it. He instead, chose to blame it on grief. He claimed to only be there to pick-up takeout, but photos prove he was there for several hours drinking.

In addition, after almost 4 days of silence, many of the other Members of Legislative Assembly have made statements that also make excuses for his behaviour.

Well, the people and visitors of Cayman are not having it! Please sign this petition to stand in solidarity with the victim. We demand that Bush be removed from government permanently, and held responsible for his actions!
