The Cayman Islands Government operates as a British Overseas Territory, with the United Kingdom responsible for its defense and foreign affairs. Its governance consists of a constitutional monarchy with a parliamentary democratic system. The legislative authority is vested in a legislative assembly headed by a speaker, while executive power is exercised by the Governor in conjunction with the Cabinet, which includes leading members from the legislative assembly.
