Dr Doom is one of Marvel's most popular and beloved villains, and personally, my favourite Marvel character of all time. It's only fitting that he is played by a talented individual who can encompass all the qualities that make us love the character so much.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is not only a very gifted actor, but he also possesses a suitable body type to accurately depict Dr Doom; I believe that he would be the ideal candidate for this role. A key segment of Dr Doom's character is his position as the reigning monarch of Latveria, and being associated with a monarchy is something that Coster-Waldau is no stranger to thanks to his role as Jaime Lannister in Game of Thrones.

In the comics, Dr Doom has shown a tendency to switch sides and stand with the heroes in times of greater threats, if Marvel Studios wants to portray Dr Doom as a character who walks a line between hero and villain, it doesn't get much better than Coster-Waldau. Jaime started out as one of the most hated villains on television. However, over time as more layers of Jaime's character were revealed, fans actually started to root for him. If Coster-Waldau could bring this sort of conflicted take to Dr Doom, it would make for a very gripping viewing experience. Jaime also clearly conveyed that he didn't mind being seen as the villain if it meant accomplishing the greater good, hence earning himself the name Kingslayer. This sort of mentality is very similar to that of Dr Doom, who sees himself as the saviour of humanity. Jaime Lannister and Dr Doom share several character traits, and judging by the fact that Coster-Waldau performed so well in his role as Jaime, there's no doubt he would smash it as Dr Doom.

Coster-Waldau may not have had the chance to sit on the throne of Westeros, but he certainly deserves the throne of Latveria. I truly feel that the Kingslayer would absolutely slay this role.
